SPOGO  |  MUNDO FLOTANTE

For Japanese culture, peace and harmony are associated with balance, qualities that in turn are a true reflection of their beauty concept.

Spogo’s work has an evident introspective sense and relation with space. He studies the context, to find the traces and scars of each place, which later interprets in the walls, adapting the idea to the format and placing itself in an organic way in conjunction with the surrounding environment of the art work.

This shows the syncretic character of his work, as well as the value given to naturalness, the ephemeral nature of things, as well as the emotional sense that the artist establishes with the context.

That interpretive experience in the street, is the basis for his studio art work. Thus, “Mundo Flotante” analyzes the figure represented in the classic Japanese landscape prints and city life imaginery, which deconstructs in his work to offer the essence of the line and the curve as the main elements. This way, it achieves the goal of capturing the traditional nuances of spatial arrangement, color harmony and Japanese lyricism.

Simplicity and naturalness are essential in Spogo’s work, that is based on a harmony that gives each of his pieces a transcendental character, a reflection of something higher that is only outlined, suggested and later interpreted by the viewer.

A delicate balance of shapes, colors, textures and visual depths, which the artist orders to represent a thematic content and a unique visual aesthetic.
